I’m Andrew, the creator, designer, and owner at Enlighten Me! The place where you can ‘enlighten’ yourself with eye-catching light up wearables!

Visually intriguing lighting design, especially when incorporated into personal fashion pieces has been an interest of mine for quite a long time.  I first became introduced to EL wire back in 2011 when I bought a single long strand of it and wove it in a specific pattern/design through a mesh tank top of mine for a festival.  I did this not only so I was easy to spot amongst my friends in the crowd, but also so that I was wearing something unique and custom-made that could entertain those that were also in attendance around me.  After familiarizing myself with making EL Wire tank tops every now and again for the occasional festival I attended, I decided that I wanted to challenge myself and make something a bit more striking and unique, and thus, in 2013, my very first EL Wire mask was born.  That mask ended up becoming ‘The Mayan’ design which you can find in my store today (although, it was a much more crude version of what you see today.)

For the next 5 years I made EL masks for my own pleasure and creative outlet making a new one every so often for a festival or Halloween costume and all the while the comments, compliments, and questions about them continued to pour in. So much so that eventually in early 2018, with some light pressure and convincing by some close friends and family of mine, I decided that I should start crafting and selling my masks as a small business. Thus, ‘Enlighten Me’ was at the start of being born!  I spent several months researching, developing, designing, prototyping, and perfecting a line of unique, high quality mask designs while also tracking down the highest quality EL wire colors that were not only up to my standards in consistent quality, but would also be able to be ordered and delivered to me in a timely manner so I could fulfill orders quickly when needed. My number one goal is that each mask is of the utmost handcrafted quality and has the longevity to last for years to come for each and every customer (Provided they follow a few simple operational and care instructions).

With the name ‘Enlighten Me’, it’s the age old ‘double entendre’ in which wearing one of these masks is not only meant to light yourself up with an eye-catching piece of wearable electronic fashion, but to also enlighten you, and those around you, with a stunning conversation starter!  In wearing these masks myself over the years, they have opened many doors to fascinating conversations from intriguing individuals that my naturally introverted self would have always had a slightly difficult time initiating.  If it’s had that effect on me, then I’m confident wearing one of these will have the same effect for you!
